If you scored a ticket to the First Annual Haddonfield Styled Up Fashion Show this month, then you know that it was the fashion event of the season! If you were unable to get a ticket before it sold out, then put May 14th, 2020 on your calendar. Right now. We’ll wait ...
Okay? Okay.
The open bar was flowing, the butlered hors d’oeuvres were delish, and the season's hottest styles were on parade. Fifteen Haddonfield fashion retailers sent sassy models down a tressel-covered runway, and many of the town’s restaurants and bakeries served their award winning creations in a flowered courtyard setting. Guests lounged on antique settees under Einstein lighting as an electric violinist charmed the crowd. Even the fireflies danced!
Maison Marcellé went modern Marie Antoinette. With birds and butterflies perched high in over-the-top Marie Antoinette wigs and blue and white chinoserie parasols twirling, our runway aesthetic was a timely tribute to Susan Sontag's 1964 "Notes on Camp Fashion." Just last month, Vogue’s Anna Wintour paid homage to Sontag's iconic fashion essay at the Camp themed Met Gala. Need a visual? The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art is featuring a camp fashion exhibit through September 8, 2019. Oui, that’s a summer must-do!
No need to go into a full blown FOMO fit... here’s what you missed. Our very own lead style associate, Krysta, wore a rare 1980s Lillian Albus original. Anyone local to Haddonfield will remember that name! From the 1950s through the late 1980s, the region's most discerning women would travel from New York and Philadelphia to be styled in the elegant designs of the Lilian Albus boutique (now Verona Ristorante). This vintage linen tea dress, with its rich local history, recently caught the eye of The Vintage Voyageur and will also be featured in the Maison Marcellé season 3 episode scheduled to air this Fall!
Merci beaucoup to modern style icon, Carrie Bradshaw, tutus are not just for ballerinas anymore! So Nancy pranced in this versatile look that easily goes from the 2pm garden reception to the after party at the cigar bar. I knew when I spotted that Samuel Dong silk jacket in Paris that it was destined for something special. The StyledUp Haddonfield crowd went wild for it!
Faire attentíon Zelda Fitzgerald, there's a new “IT GIRL” in town! Kate was rocking a repro 1920s beaded number reminiscent of those that made the 1920s so glamourous.
Psst... I’ll let you in on a secret, ma chère... you may not have a Paris Caberet on your calendar today, but with 2020 just 6 months away, the 20s themed party invitations will soon be rolling in. Yes, of course! We’ve got you covered. Would you expect anything less?
This, Mesdemoiselles, is Maison Marcellé... no passport required. A bientôt.
